How To Calculate CO2 Emissions

During a race weekend, a car may consume ~200 liters of petrol.

Burning 1 liter of petrol emits ~2.35 kilograms of CO₂ . Therefore, 200l X 2.35kg=470kg of CO₂, which at $0.58* per kg of CO₂ removal, means that it costs $271 to remove this race events’ emissions.

*It currently costs $550 per metric ton of carbon removal from Frontier (i.e., $0.55/kg), plus a 2.91% Stripe Climate transaction fee, plus a 2% Upstream transaction fee, making $0.58/kg.
